So I had never added radish to any of my dishes before (except salad) since it always has a bit of a bitter taste. I was really worried that it would bring the bitterness to the dish, however, it worked out pretty well. Once cooked the bitterness disappeared and the chaat masala and the achaar (mango pickle) gave it a nice tangy taste.
2 tbs Mango Pickle or any pickle you would like to use (I prefer mango).
2 Green Chilies
4-5 small Red Radishes
2 tbs Oil
½ tsp Cumin seeds
½ tsp Red Chili powder
½ tsp Turmeric powder
½ tsp Cumin powder
½ tsp Coriander powder
1 tsp Chaat masala powder
Salt to taste
In a large pan add the oil and cumin seeds and let the seeds sputter.
Add the onions and fry till translucent.
Add the Mango pickle and mix well.
Cook till oil starts to separate from the pickle.
Add the minced meat and let it brown a little bit.
Add the ginger and garlic paste and cook for a couple of minutes.
Add the sliced radish, carrots and green chilies.
Add the remaining spices (red chili, turmeric, cumin, coriander and salt) – Do not add the chaat masala yet.
Add 1 cup of water and let it cook on medium flame till all the water evaporates or till you reach your desired consistency.
Once the meat is cooked well add your chaat masala and mix well.
Serve hot with Roti or rice.
